How do I research public records without having to pay a fee to a company?

I would like to access public records without paying a company fee of $39.95.

Your question is puzzling. Are the records those of the state or the government? Are the records those of a business operating within any jurisdiction or jurisdictions? Companies are required to provide information to the state and that is public information available from each company directly or from the state agency that collects the information. If records are those of the government, and collected by the government, each office may and most often does charge a fee for making copies.

How do I look up mortgage information in the public records office?

I would like to go to the public records office and find specific mortgage information. For example, what type of mortgage someone has.

Go to the local Registrar of Deeds (or whatever your local public records office is called) and tell the person there that you would like to look up the information on such-and-such property. He/she will show you how to use the card file or the computer to do the search. You need to know either the owner's name or the Legal Description of the property. If you don't know, the local Tax Collecting Department can give you that information.

What impact do public records have on your credit score? Do I have a credit score without any credit?

I am trying to understand my credit situation better so I can fix it. I get a lot of conflicting responses and am not sure what to do.
I have a huge child support debt from about 9 years ago (I am 30) when I was in a situation in which I was unable to work. It is about $16,000. I have been paying on it for years and finally got the interest dropped last month so that my payments actually affect the balance.

I have a judgement to my apartment complex for about $3,000 (which was paid in full.) This was from last year.

I have never had a credit card and have no loans or anything. My credit report lists my 3 child support cases as my 3 accounts.

When I paid for my score it said I was unable to be scored, though in an answer to another question I asked someone said I do have a credit score but its probably low.

Will the public records affect my score and how so. Since I paid the judgement to my apartment complex in full, should that be refected somewhere on my report?

Where did you get the credit reports? Judgments are usually listed on your credit reports but not always.

If all you have are negatives your score is probably so low it is below the lowest score of 350 ( I believe ).

How can I find free public property records on the internet?

If I had the exact address of a house built on a piece of property, that was at one time farm land, how or where on the internet could I find public records of what was on that land, before the house was built? The house and the houses around it were infiltrated with excessive amounts of mold. I need to find out if the houses were built on some kind of toxic waste land, or if there were springs underground, or if something has been covered up. The house is located in the Little Britain Township, in Lancaster, PA. Thanks. Also, any college professors or students that know of any kind of toxic chemical that could possibly grow mold, I'd be interested in hearing about it. I once read that Erin Brockovich found excessive amounts of mold in her house in Conejo Valley, CA. and was wondering if any kind of toxic chemical being dumped on land could cause it. If it helps a mold test was taken, and Penicillium,Asperguillius, and Cladisporin were found. No water leaks were ever found in the house

Start with the county recorder or assessor's office. Some make them available online; others make them available only at their office, especially older records. The address would connect to you to the assessor's parcel numbers. You could also look at nearby parcels. Note that street address schemes are sometimes changed. Check with the local health departments about testing.

How do I search for the public records of future building sites in Norcross GA?

I realize that in order to find out where a builder may be planning to buy older homes and put new ones on the land, that I must check the public records of the county court house. I would like to find this online. I Googled the info and could not find where to locate this. Does anyone know how I would find it for Gwinnett County in Georgia? Thanks a lot.

How do I find the proposed commuter rail station?

Can you make copies of circuit court public records that you personally buy and pass them out to others?

Our son's little league coach has an injunction for stalking and harrassment, and we think that the other parents should read the disturbing public records that we paid for from the county courthouse to help them ensure the safety for their children? Many thanks.

I'm not a lawyer but I'd suggest you don't do it. You're in a gray area. Generally you can only disseminate public information related to conviction of a crime. Although your information is public there may be no crime involved. Sometimes all an individual needs to do is ask for a protective order because they "feel threatened".

You might open yourself up to getting sued for slander. Legally you wouldn't be because the information is true but it's a gray area because the underlying offense might be false. That's why we have courts.

What public records can I search if I want to find someone?

I was told if I wanted to find someone, to got to the courthouse and look in the public records. My question is which records do I search since all I know is the name and that they live here in town with an unlisted phone number.

In this case, the are most likely correct in that you would have to go to the courthouse (or other archive source) and manually look. But realize, with just a name, unless it is exceptionally unusual, it would be the same as looking in a phone book for someone who you just knew their name but don't know their phone number. There are a heck of a lot of "John Smith's" in my area's phonebook.

Also know that public records doesn't always mean easily accessible records. Because of privacy concerns, many places make it difficult at times to get to "public" records. Sometimes you may even have to fill out a Freedom of Information Act Request (if it is your information that someone is looking for, you might be appreciative that requirement).

But places you can look - voter registration roles, deed filings (hoping they own their residence), some areas (smaller towns for the most part) have a list of residences with their current occupants - in some cases they are reverse searchable.

Privacy is a big concern these days, and that they have an unlisted number probably means that they want that privacy more than most (or just that they use a cell phone instead of a land based phone). But there are records you can access at the courthouse that MIGHT help. Easy? Most certainly not, but depending on how much you really want to find this person, the effort may be worth it. Then again, maybe not.

How to I obtain public records on a bankrupt property near my home?

Every time I try a search, I am lead to a "membership" based site. I thought public records are obtainable for free?

Property is never bankrupt, it's a person who is. If you want public records for free, go to the records hall for that county and do the research there.

How to view public birth, death records online without paying some middleman?

I'm trying to find a way to view public records online but every site I find is just a cover for pay services. Public records are supposed to be available for free, but I'm having trouble finding them. I'm specifically interested in the state of Mississippi.

If they lived in the time of Social Security this site will help. There is some info they want you to pay for. However Social Security index is free.

New Ways To Search Public Records?

The internet has transformed the level of access which the public has to the records held by the many agencies in our great nation.  It used to be that if you wanted to access a public record you needed to make long telephone calls, fill in forms, and wait for clerks and the postal system to deliver what you wanted.  It was slow, inefficient and could become quite expensive if you needed to travel or make long-distance calls.

If you have access to the internet then you have access to any public records that you desire.  What used to take weeks or months to find out can easily be found in minutes as long as you can point and click your mouse.

Unlike the old days of public record search, with the internet you can search any time of the day or night.  You are not restricted by the operating hours of the agency that you are queering.   If you can access the internet, then you can make a search of public records.

It is also a lot easier to get to the records.  There is no need to get in a car or catch a bus, and you don’t have to rearrange your schedule so that you have time to get to the right office at the right time.  There is no queuing involved, or trying to navigate your way around the corridors of unfamiliar buildings.  No red tape or filling in forms or persuading slow-moving staff that your request is both urgent and important.

Once you get on the proper website you will need to enter all the typical info..your name, e-mail, user name and password.  Then put down a credit card and you are on your way to the information that you desire.

Another great benefit on online public records searching is that the documents or information that you receive are electronic.  This means that you can circulate or print off as many copies as you need, and still keep the original on file.

The internet has transformed many aspects of our lives, including how we gain access to the public records stored in the archives scattered across the country.

The web has changed many aspects of our daily lives.  This now includes the way that we search for  public information.  Right or wrong, all of our public information is at the fingertips of anyone who has the internet and $20-30 lying around.
